About this painting: The walled garden RHS Wisley is one of my most favourite places to sit & relax. Here & there you can find a bench & sit in the dappled shade & rest. It's from one of those benches that I sketched this path running between the overflowing borders of flowers.
The original painting of the garden border in Oil on canvas was inspired by a day when a dear friend & I enjoyed companionable quiet on a summer's day. The deep red peonies were just poking their heads out through the clouds of perennials, adding a splash of colour to the soothing green tones.
