About this painting: Freedom is a painting full of atmosphere & softness. Its pastel tones sit comfortably with any backdrop & it glows with translucent layers of light. It brings with it a mood of calm, tranquility & soothing relaxing with a burst of hope & possibility.

There is something magical about dandelion clocks.But then again the dandelion is a plant which holds so much symbolism. It symbolises determination, flourishing in difficult circumstances & its parachute seeds take our wishes off to be fulfilled. This hardy little plant with its magical seed heads is so often ignored, passed by, trodden on or pulled out as a weed.
However it has so many amazing properties & can survive in the direst of circumstances & tiniest crack in a rock or paving stone.
It provides the bees with their first nectar in Spring, is full of vitamin c & has many healing properties.
It also symbolises courage, freedom, the ability to start over from scratch, hope. It’s seed heads take our wishes off into the air…
You know me & my musing mind when I’m painting… these simple little plants mean so much to me & I resonate with them in so many ways. If I was going to ever have an emblem or coat of arms, it would definitely be a dandelion!
The way they grow tirelessly & reappear however hard a careless gardener tries to destroy them made me think not only about my journey through life, but also about how dreams can be passed on to the next generation. The spirit of the dandelion transcends physical & mental determination, linking it to the spiritual & universal world where anything is possible when we put our minds to it.
